Lifespace Trust - We mentor young people to reduce stress, build resilience and achieve more

About Lifespace

We offer a safe listening place for children and young people.

It’s a huge privilege when a young person chooses to share their concerns with one of our mentors.

Our carefully selected, well trained team at Lifespace all strive to be: Positive, Compassionate, Capable and Professional.

Positive: Our mentors focus on what can be done to support a young person, we look for what’s right with them. We measure our effectiveness and always aim to improve outcomes from mentoring.

Compassionate: We recognise life can be challenging. Our mentors do this work because they really care about young people and want to help them navigate through their challenges.

Capable: Our mentors are carefully selected and fully trained to work with children and young people. They are approachable, excel at confidential, non-judgmental listening, have access to resources that help young people, and know when to sign-post if a young person needs more.

Professional: Our mentors are trained, have enhanced DBS checks, adhere to our rigorous safeguarding processes and abide by the Lifespace Code of Ethics. They will uphold the ethos of your school environment and liaise with staff when needed (within agreed confidentiality and safeguarding parameters).

In June 2015 Lifespace received The Queens Award for Voluntary Service for ‘an outstanding contribution to the lives of young people’. The award is the highest achievement for a voluntary organisation.

Our Key Safeguarding Lead has over 30 years’ experience in youth work and is supported by another fully trained Designated Safeguarding Lead. This means there is always someone on hand to support a mentor with a safeguarding concern.

All staff and mentors have enhanced DBS certificates; receive initial Safeguarding training and annual refresher training

We have a wonderful team of committed trustees, from diverse occupational backgrounds, who ensure that we are fully compliant in all our work and carry out our puropses for the benefit of the public and to the best of our abilities.
