What is Lifespace Education? |
|
|
|
Lifespace expects to deliver a programme of education for young people between the ages of 11-18 from Autumn 2009 (subject to funding).
The education programme will mainly be school-based in the Stratford-on-Avon district, and will cover a wide range of issues as part of the school's Citizenship (PSHCE) programme, including:
- Self-worth
- Emotional Resilience
- Sexually Transmitted Infections
- HIV-AIDS
- Body Image
(For more info about the specific education workshops click here)
These themes are usually delivered as one hour class workshops (to 20-25 students) and some can be adapted for delivery to larger year groups (e.g 50-150 students).
Lifespace already has a small team of trained educators with over a decade of teaching experience each, and this work builds on the previous work of Complete Relationship Education (CREd) from 1999-2008, which was the forerunner to Lifespace Education.
Lifespace's Education programme aligns with:
- Every Child Matters outcomes (from the government, The Children Act 2004)

- The Dept. for Children, Schools & Families (DCSF) national strategy for 'Social & Emotional Aspects of Learning' (SEAL)
- Bloom's taxonomy of learning outcomes
- Awareness of relevant learning domains (cognitive, affective, psychomotor)
- The Respect Yourself campaign promoted by Warwickshire County Council
